Trump Warns Iran After Israeli Strikes: 'No More Death or Destruction'

In a recent statement on his social media platform, President Donald Trump urged Iran to engage in nuclear deal negotiations to prevent further military escalation, following Israeli airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities. These strikes were characterized by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as a necessary measure for national defense, given Iran's proximity to acquiring nuclear weapons, which Israel views as an existential threat.

Trump's comments emphasized the potential for further violence, stating that there is still time for Iran to negotiate and avert additional "death and destruction." He described previous negotiations with Iran as unsuccessful, asserting that Iranian hardliners were unaware of the consequences of their actions and reiterating the military capabilities of the United States and Israel.

The U.S. government, through Secretary of State Marco Rubio, confirmed that it did not participate in the Israeli strikes, underscoring a focus on protecting American forces in the region and advising Iran against retaliatory actions targeting U.S. interests.

In response to the airstrikes, Iran launched drone attacks on Israel, escalating tensions further. The United Nations expressed concern over the military escalation, with Secretary-General António Guterres condemning the attacks on Iranian nuclear sites amid ongoing negotiations between Iran and the U.S.

While some U.S. lawmakers supported Israel's actions, viewing them as self-defense, others criticized the strikes as detrimental to diplomatic efforts aimed at curbing Iran's nuclear ambitions. The situation remains fluid as further negotiations are planned, yet the recent military actions have raised questions about the viability of these talks moving forward.
