Trump urges Putin to stop airstrikes on Kyiv: 'Vladimir, STOP!'

On Thursday, President Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with a recent missile and drone attack orchestrated by Russia on Kyiv, Ukraine, labeling it as “not necessary and very bad timing.” This offensive resulted in at least eight fatalities and approximately 70 injuries, marking the deadliest bombing in Ukraine since the previous summer.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt the strikes, emphasizing the human toll of the ongoing conflict, which he noted claims about 5,000 soldiers' lives weekly. His comments come amidst efforts by the Trump administration to facilitate a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, as the war enters its fourth year.

The assault involved over 70 missiles, with Ukraine’s defense system intercepting 48, alongside 140 drones, 64 of which were also shot down. The Ukrainian State Emergency Service reported ongoing search operations for potential survivors trapped under debris.

In response to the attack, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that the strikes illustrate Russia's role as the primary obstacle to peace, calling for international pressure to be directed at Moscow rather than Kyiv.

Meanwhile, Trump’s Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, is scheduled to meet with Putin in Moscow, though it remains uncertain if the recent aggression will alter those plans. Prominent figures in the Trump administration, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, have cautioned that the U.S. may withdraw from negotiations if no progress is made.

Trump has recently criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for comments regarding Crimea, suggesting they hinder peace negotiations. He underscored the urgency of achieving a resolution to the conflict to prevent further loss of life.
