Trump requests DOJ investigation into Epstein's ties to Clinton, JPMorgan, Summers

On Friday, President Donald Trump announced his request for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate the connections between Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, and several prominent figures, including former President Bill Clinton, JPMorgan Chase, and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers. This statement follows renewed scrutiny of Trump’s past association with Epstein, who died in August 2019 while awaiting trial for child sex trafficking charges.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump suggested that Democrats are leveraging the Epstein case to divert attention from their political failures. He indicated that he would be asking Attorney General Pam Bondi to probe Epstein's relationships with various individuals and institutions to uncover the nature of their associations. He drew parallels between the current situation and previous allegations against him, labeling it a "scam."

JPMorgan Chase, which had a long-standing relationship with Epstein, responded to Trump's allegations by stating that the government had failed to share critical information about Epstein's actions with the bank. The company emphasized that it had severed ties with Epstein before his arrest on sex trafficking charges. In 2023, JPMorgan agreed to pay $365 million to settle lawsuits from Epstein victims and the U.S. Virgin Islands, although the bank did not admit wrongdoing.

In light of these developments, multiple parties, including Clinton and other individuals mentioned by Trump, have yet to comment on the matter. Recent emails released by the House Oversight Committee have also highlighted Epstein's own comments about Trump, further complicating the narratives surrounding their past interactions. As the situation unfolds, calls for clarity on Epstein's connections to these high-profile figures continue to grow.
