Trump asks Pam Bondi to pursue legal action against his opponents

In a recent post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump called on his Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to initiate prosecutions against several of his political adversaries, including California Senator Adam Schiff, former FBI Director James Comey, and New York Attorney General Letitia James. Trump argued that delays in these actions were damaging his reputation and credibility, citing his impeachment and multiple indictments as unjust.

Trump's post emphasized the need for "justice" against those he believes have wronged him, stating, "They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!" This call for action follows the recent departure of Erik Siebert, the former U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, who had indicated there was insufficient evidence to pursue charges against James. Trump publicly criticized Siebert, leading to his resignation shortly thereafter.

In response to Siebert's exit, Trump announced the appointment of Lindsey Halligan, a personal attorney and White House aide, to fill the position. He described Halligan as a "tough, smart, and loyal attorney" who had supported him during previous legal challenges.

The Eastern District of Virginia had been investigating James for alleged mortgage fraud related to a home purchase in 2023. James previously secured a significant judgment against the Trump Organization for civil fraud, an outcome Trump has expressed a desire to retaliate against.

Trump clarified in remarks to reporters that his post was not a critique of Bondi but rather an urgent appeal for her to expedite legal actions against those he perceives as guilty. He stated, "If they’re not guilty, that’s fine. If they are guilty, or if they should be charged, they should be charged, and we have to do it now."
