Trump announces Venezuela will accept repatriation of criminal illegal immigrants

In a recent announcement on Truth Social, President Donald Trump stated that Venezuela has agreed to accept illegal immigrants from the United States, including members of the Tren de Aragua gang. This follows a meeting between Trump’s envoy for special missions, Ric Grenell, and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in Caracas, where the discussion focused on the repatriation of Venezuelan criminals.

Trump's message emphasized that Venezuela would not only accept these individuals back but would also provide transportation for their return. He highlighted that the U.S. is in the process of increasing deportations and that other countries are cooperating in accepting their nationals.

During a press briefing, U.S. Special Envoy to Latin America Mauricio Claver-Carone reiterated Grenell's mission, stating that Maduro was urged to accept all Venezuelan criminals and Tren de Aragua members without any conditions. The Tren de Aragua gang has been implicated in various criminal activities within the U.S., with reports of gang members being involved in violent incidents, including a recent case in Aurora, Colorado, where they allegedly terrorized residents.

In addition to addressing the issue of deportation, Grenell reportedly succeeded in securing the release of six Americans during his visit. A photo shared by Grenell depicted the released individuals expressing their gratitude toward Trump.

The developments come amid ongoing concerns regarding gang violence and illegal immigration, particularly related to the activities of Tren de Aragua in various U.S. cities, including New York, where law enforcement has conducted several raids resulting in multiple arrests of suspected gang members.
