In the early hours of February 13, a truck launched approximately 100 feet into the air before crashing into a house in Tigard, Oregon, around 10 miles south of Portland. The incident occurred just before 3 a.m. in a residential area. Witnesses indicated that the driver was speeding and driving recklessly, which led to the truck hitting a dirt mound, propelling it over a three-foot brick wall and into the side of a nearby home.
Authorities stated that no serious injuries were reported as a result of the crash, although significant damage was inflicted on the residence. The Tigard Police Department noted that when officers arrived, the driver, identified as 33-year-old Jacob Hankins, was initially unconscious, and both he and a passenger were trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue successfully rescued them, and both were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
Hankins has since been charged with reckless driving and recklessly endangering others. The homeowner, David Brudnok, recounted the moment of impact, describing the noise and the shaking of the house, as well as his wife's alarm during the incident. The truck caused extensive damage, demolishing part of the home, specifically where the bathroom was located. The family is currently awaiting updates on their insurance coverage while temporarily residing in a hotel, with costs covered by their insurance provider. Local authorities expressed gratitude for the collaborative response from neighboring agencies involved in managing the situation.
