Toronto Jewish girls school targeted with gunshots for third time

Toronto police are currently investigating an incident where a Jewish girls elementary school in North York was shot at for the third time this year. The recent shooting at Bais Chaya Mushka Girls Elementary School occurred in the early hours of the morning, with security footage showing a vehicle pull up, a passenger firing shots at the building, and then speeding away. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the school was empty at the time.

This is not the first time the school has been targeted, as similar incidents occurred in October and May. In the previous shootings, the school was also empty and no injuries were reported. Two individuals were arrested in connection to the October shooting and are currently in custody.

School administrators expressed their concern and frustration over the repeated attacks, emphasizing that they will not be deterred and will continue to educate their students in a safe environment. The police are working diligently to investigate the incidents and ensure the safety of the community.

Local officials, including Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, have condemned the attacks as antisemitic and unacceptable. They have called for anyone with information to come forward and for the community to remain vigilant.

In response to the incidents, a local Jewish community safety group has been updating Jewish institutions in the Greater Toronto Area about the situation and the need for increased vigilance. The investigation into the shootings comes at a time when antisemitic incidents are on the rise, with a recent firebomb attack on a synagogue in Montreal also making headlines.

As the investigation continues, efforts are being made to support the affected community and prevent further incidents of hate crimes. The safety and well-being of all individuals, regardless of their background, must be a top priority for the authorities and the community at large.
