Shooting at Florida State University leaves at least four people injured

At least six individuals were hospitalized following reports of an active shooter incident at Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee on Thursday. The university alerted students at 12:01 p.m. ET, advising them to seek shelter as law enforcement responded to a reported shooting near the Student Union.

By 1:04 p.m. ET, FSU issued an additional alert instructing students to continue sheltering in place while police conducted a thorough search of the campus. The hospital, Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, confirmed it was treating multiple patients with injuries resulting from the shooting. Initially, four individuals were reported injured, but this number later increased to six, with one person in critical condition and five in serious condition.

In response to the incident, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that the FBI is on-site in Tallahassee, emphasizing the priority of safety for all involved. President Donald Trump addressed the situation during a meeting, expressing concern and mentioning that he had been briefed on developments.

Local authorities, including Rep. Neal Dunn (R-FL), noted the early reports were alarming but acknowledged that more information would be available as investigations progressed. A video from the FSU campus captured scenes of individuals fleeing as sirens sounded in the background.

In light of the shooting, FSU canceled classes for the remainder of the day and advised those not on campus to avoid the area. As the situation unfolds, further updates will be provided as more details emerge.
