Missile and Drone Attack on Kyiv Kills at Least 10
Russia’s latest overnight assault on Kyiv killed at least 10 people and injured 30, according to Ukrainian authorities, marking the second major attack on the capital within a week. Officials said ballistic missiles and drones struck several districts, damaging homes, vehicles, commercial properties and public buildings.
In Solomianskyi, debris hit a five-storey residential building and caused a fire. Emergency crews evacuated 35 residents; two people died and eight were injured, including two children. In Darnytskyi, authorities reported seven deaths and 14 injuries following fires and extensive property damage. Fires and structural damage were also reported elsewhere in Kyiv. Lithuania said its embassy was damaged by nearby strikes.
Russia’s Defence Ministry described the operation as a large-scale strike on Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and logistics centres. Moscow and Kyiv both maintain that they do not deliberately target civilians.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy renewed calls for additional Patriot missile interceptors from the United States and other Western partners, saying air defence remains a priority. He said recent discussions with U.S. leaders were productive, while Washington’s position on supporting further Patriot production appeared unsettled. The report also noted that interceptor supplies previously intended for Ukraine had been redirected amid conflict in the Gulf.
Residents described repeated explosions, shattered windows and mounting psychological strain as attacks become more frequent. One woman said she sought shelter after her apartment was damaged.
Fighting continues along roughly 1,200 kilometres of front line, although Russian territorial advances have reportedly slowed this year. Ukraine has also expanded strikes on Russian oil facilities, logistics hubs and weapons production sites.
Separate incidents were reported in Russian-occupied Crimea and the Black Sea. Russian officials said a drone attack killed one woman in Sevastopol. Rosatom said two Ukrainian drones sank a civilian cargo vessel, though all 17 crew members survived. Maritime attacks have intensified.
