Luigi Mangione's notebook deemed CEO murder targeted and precise

Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is currently fighting extradition to New York City after being arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania. A notebook found with Mangione contains a description of killing a CEO that matches details of Thompson's alleged murder in New York last week. The notebook includes chilling phrases such as "You wack the CEO at the annual parasitic bean-counter convention" and "It's targeted, precise and doesn't risk innocents."

Mangione was arrested with a gun, a silencer, and ammunition in a backpack at a local McDonald's in Altoona. Fingerprints taken from Mangione also match some fingerprints found near the Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan where Thompson was fatally shot on December 4th. Surveillance video shows a masked man firing a gun with a silencer at Thompson from behind outside the Hilton.

Thompson, a father of two, was scheduled to speak at an investor day hosted by UnitedHealth Group at the Hilton on the morning of his killing. Mangione, an Ivy League graduate with two degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, has reportedly suffered from significant back pain for years. He is currently being held without bail on state firearms and forgery charges in Pennsylvania related to his arrest.

Mangione's handwritten note criticized UnitedHealthcare, the U.S. health-care industry, and corporations, stating that "These parasites simply had it coming." Despite the evidence against him, Mangione refused to waive extradition to New York at a recent court hearing. The Manhattan District Attorney's Office and New York Governor Kathy Hochul will file the necessary paperwork for a judge in Pennsylvania to decide on Mangione's extradition to face charges in New York for Thompson's killing.
