Israel and Iran exchange strikes for third day as nuclear talks are canceled

Israel has conducted airstrikes across Iran for a third consecutive day, escalating military tensions in the region. The strikes, which began on Friday, have targeted Iranian nuclear and ballistic missile facilities. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Iran would face severe consequences for its actions, particularly regarding civilian casualties. Reports indicate that at least 224 individuals have been killed in Iran, with the majority being civilians, according to the Iranian Health Ministry. Meanwhile, in Israel, six people, including minors, have died from missile strikes attributed to Iran.

Both nations have issued warnings to civilians regarding potential further attacks. The Israeli military has advised Iranians living near military targets to evacuate, while Iranian officials have similarly urged Israeli citizens to stay clear of critical sites for their safety.

The conflict has resulted in significant destruction, including damage to buildings and infrastructure in both countries. A notable incident occurred in Bat Yam, Israel, where a missile strike caused multiple casualties and injuries. Iranian missiles reportedly hit various locations, including the northern city of Haifa, injuring several individuals.

The ongoing military actions have disrupted planned nuclear negotiations between Iran and Western countries, which were intended to facilitate a diplomatic resolution. The talks were called off due to the hostilities, with Iranian officials stating they would not negotiate under attack.

U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the situation, reiterating support for Israel while warning against Iranian retaliation towards U.S. interests. He has also emphasized the potential for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, urging Iran to consider a deal regarding its nuclear program.
