ICE detains Milo Yiannopoulos in Louisiana

Milo Yiannopoulos Detained by ICE Pending Removal

British political figure Milo Yiannopoulos has been detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Louisiana and is awaiting removal from the United States, according to federal records and a Department of Homeland Security statement.

DHS said Yiannopoulos legally entered the country through New York City in May 2019 but remained beyond the period authorized. According to the agency, an immigration judge issued a final removal order on July 22 after he did not attend a scheduled hearing. Officials said he was detained Thursday, August 27, and will remain in ICE custody pending removal. His specific detention facility has not been disclosed, although ICE directs inquiries to its Enforcement and Removal Operations office in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Yiannopoulos, a British citizen, previously lived and worked in the United States, reportedly under an O-1 visa for people recognized for extraordinary ability. He has never held US citizenship.

He became prominent in American conservative politics while working for Breitbart from 2014 to 2017. He resigned following public criticism of comments concerning sexual relationships between adults and adolescent boys. Since then, he has remained intermittently involved in right-wing politics, including associations with Nick Fuentes, former representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, Donald Trump, and rapper Kanye West.

Yiannopoulos has served as a spokesperson for West and participated briefly in planning related to West’s prospective 2024 presidential campaign. Their working relationship has repeatedly ended and resumed amid public disputes.

His detention also prompted commentary from activist Laura Loomer, a longtime rival, who said she had previously raised questions about his immigration status. The case has additionally drawn attention because Yiannopoulos publicly supported large-scale deportations in a 2025 social media post.

DHS has not publicly announced a removal date or provided further details about the next steps in his case as of Friday afternoon on August 28, 2026.
