Ghislaine Maxwell transferred to minimum security prison after meeting with DOJ

Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite currently serving a 20-year sentence for trafficking underage girls for Jeffrey Epstein, has been transferred to a minimum-security prison camp in Texas. The move from a federal facility in Tallahassee, Florida, to Federal Prison Camp Bryan follows her recent meeting with Department of Justice Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, amid ongoing scrutiny regarding the Trump Administration's handling of Epstein-related matters.

The Trump Administration has faced backlash, including from some of its supporters, following a July memo from the DOJ that denied the existence of an Epstein "client list," ruled his death a suicide, and closed the investigation. When questioned about the possibility of a pardon for Maxwell, Trump stated that while he is legally able to grant one, he has not considered it.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed Maxwell’s transfer but did not disclose the reasons behind it. Her new facility, FPC Bryan, typically houses inmates serving sentences for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes. Notable former inmates include reality TV star Jen Shah and Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes.

The family of Virginia Giuffre, a victim of Epstein, criticized the transfer, alleging that the Trump Administration is providing Maxwell preferential treatment. They emphasized Maxwell's history of criminal behavior and expressed concern over any leniency shown to her.

While Trump has sought to distance himself from Epstein, he recently elaborated on their past relationship, claiming their friendship ended due to Epstein's inappropriate actions involving employees at Mar-a-Lago. As Maxwell's legal team seeks to appeal her conviction, the Justice Department has urged the Supreme Court to reject her appeal. Additionally, House Oversight Chair James Comer has subpoenaed Maxwell to testify, although her public testimony remains uncertain due to Congress not granting her immunity.
