Former CIA officer suggests NJ drone sightings may be classified exercise

Residents in New Jersey have been on edge for weeks due to mysterious drone sightings with no official explanations being provided. Former CIA Operations officer Laura Ballman appeared on Fox News Live to discuss the unsettling nature of the drone sightings. Ballman suggested that the drones may be part of a classified exercise to test evasion or detection technology in urban areas, based on statements from National Security spokesman John Kirby.

Despite concerns from the public, Ballman expressed doubt that the drones were related to the CIA, as it is not their mandate to operate within the United States. She also voiced her unease with the lack of information being provided by the U.S. government regarding the drones.

In a recent call with reporters hosted by senior Biden administration officials, including representatives from the FBI, FAA, NSC, DHS, and DOD, efforts were made to dispel concerns about the drones. Officials remained tight-lipped about the origins of the drones, which have been flying over the Northeast since mid-November.

The FBI has received 5,000 tips related to the drones, but fewer than 100 have warranted further investigation. Despite the recent uptick in drone activity, investigators have found no evidence of large-scale unmanned drone activity.

Overall, the situation remains unresolved as the Pentagon continues to investigate the origins of the mysterious drones. While some residents have threatened to take matters into their own hands if the government does not act, officials have urged calm, describing the uneasiness as a "slight overreaction." The DHS official noted that the amount of actual drone activity is likely less than what has been reported.
