FBI arrests four members of pro-Palestinian group in connection with New Year's Eve bombing plot

Federal authorities have disrupted a credible terrorist threat in Los Angeles, arresting four alleged members of a radical pro-Palestinian extremist group. The individuals were reportedly associated with a faction of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), which is characterized by its anti-government and anti-law enforcement ideology. According to the FBI, the suspects were planning coordinated bombings for New Year’s Eve, targeting five locations in Los Angeles using improvised explosive devices.

The arrests occurred in Lucerne Valley, where the suspects were allegedly preparing to test explosive devices in advance of the planned attacks. Each individual has been charged with conspiracy and possession of a destructive device. The FBI has also detained a fifth suspect in New Orleans, believed to have connections to the same group and involved in a separate attack plot.

TILF, which claims its founding chapter is in Los Angeles, advocates for the liberation of North America from what it terms the "illegal American empire." The group has expressed its goals through social media, promoting the idea of freeing various regions, including Palestine and Puerto Rico, from perceived imperialism.

Attorney General Pam Bondi acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Department of Justice and the FBI in thwarting the alleged plot, emphasizing a commitment to pursuing such extremist groups. The FBI continues to investigate other individuals linked to violent networks associated with TILF and similar ideologies.

This incident highlights ongoing law enforcement efforts to address domestic terrorism and the potential threats posed by extremist groups operating within the United States.
