DOJ Releases Additional 3.5 Million Pages of Epstein Files

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on Friday the release of over 3 million pages of documents related to the investigations into Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. This release comes after a deadline set by Congress and President Donald Trump for the DOJ to disclose all pertinent files.

Among the newly released materials are more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche clarified that a significant portion of these files consists of images or videos that were not created by Epstein, including commercial pornography. Some content, however, appears to be produced by Epstein or those in his circle. The DOJ noted that images of men were not redacted unless it was necessary to redact accompanying women.

Blanche indicated that the DOJ has identified more than 6 million pages of documents as potentially relevant to the Epstein investigation. Certain categories of documents remain withheld, including those containing victims' personal and medical details, depictions of child pornography, and materials that could threaten ongoing federal investigations. He refrained from discussing whether any investigations into Epstein’s associates are still active and rejected claims that the DOJ is selectively withholding documents that could harm Trump, emphasizing that the DOJ operates independently.

Additionally, the DOJ filed a court document stating that while they have reviewed and redacted millions of pages, they could not specify when the remaining files would be released. The Epstein Files Transparency Act, passed by Congress in November with bipartisan support and signed by Trump, mandated the DOJ to release all investigation-related files within 30 days.
