Mitchell Ring and his wife, Jennifer Colin, reported that crew members placed the deceased woman in a seat within their row after attempts to move her to business class were unsuccessful. The couple spent approximately 3.5 to 4 hours near the body during the remainder of the flight.
According to Ring, the woman collapsed shortly after returning from the restroom. He noted that the flight crew promptly attempted to revive her but were ultimately unsuccessful. Following the incident, Colin moved to another row at the suggestion of another passenger, while Ring remained in proximity to the deceased. The couple expressed their understanding that the airline could not be held responsible for the woman's death but questioned the absence of a protocol to address the situation for remaining passengers.
Upon landing, crew members instructed the couple and others nearby not to leave their seats until authorities could remove the deceased passenger. Colin described the experience as traumatic, highlighting the need for improved passenger care in such scenarios. Qatar Airways extended condolences to the family of the deceased and stated that they had reached out to affected passengers to address their concerns. At the time of the couple's interview, they indicated that they had not yet received direct communication from the airline. Qatar Airways reiterated their commitment to passenger safety and comfort in light of the incident.
