The FBI has released new video footage related to the investigation of Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old woman who has been missing since February 1, 2026. The videos show an unidentified individual near the entrance of Guthrie's home in Tucson, Arizona. The person, dressed in long sleeves, pants, gloves, and carrying a backpack, appears to approach a doorbell camera before attempting to obscure it with their fist and then walking away.
FBI Director Kash Patel announced the recovery of this footage on social media, indicating that it was obtained from residual data systems after overcoming challenges related to the accessibility of images originally recorded at the Guthrie residence. In his statement, Patel noted that law enforcement has been collaborating with private sector partners to gather any useful video footage that may have been lost or corrupted.
In addition to the initial video, a second clip was shared shortly thereafter, capturing the same individual turning away from the camera. Reports indicate that neither the Guthrie family nor law enforcement recognize the person in the footage, and the individual appears to be armed, as suggested by the presence of what seems to be a gun in their waistband.
Savannah Guthrie, Nancy's daughter and anchor of NBC's "Today" show, publicly shared the videos on her social media account, expressing hope for her mother's safe return. As the investigation continues, no suspects have been publicly identified at this time. This situation remains under active investigation, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
