Authorities arrest illegal migrants involved in significant gun-running operations

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has recently arrested two undocumented migrants in Maryland and Georgia, who are alleged to have been involved in a drugs and narcotics operation. This operation was executed on a Thursday, following the indictment of ten members of the Tren de Aragua gang and their associates for similar activities in New York City.

HSI Baltimore shared an image on social media of one of the suspects being escorted by agents. The agency also reported the seizure of over 30 firearms during the operation, which was conducted in coordination with HSI Atlanta, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Baltimore Police Department, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The identities of the two migrants have not been disclosed. HSI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have been contacted for additional information regarding the individuals and the extent of their operations.

In a related incident in New York City, authorities arrested eight undocumented migrants charged with orchestrating an extensive arms and drug trafficking operation that allegedly spanned six states. Prosecutors indicated that the group had intentions to expand their operations internationally, specifically to Colombia.

The New York City operation resulted in the confiscation of 34 illegal firearms, including modified weapons. The suspects, who are all migrants from Venezuela, reportedly trafficked drugs such as pink cocaine, a synthetic mixture of ketamine, MDMA, and ecstasy.

The enforcement actions reflect ongoing efforts by immigration officials to address the activities of violent undocumented migrants, particularly in light of the administration's policies on immigration and crime.
