Tuesday's air travelers may face a difficult challenge as the fallout from Monday's chaotic weather-related flight cancellations and delays continues to affect airlines across the United States. According to FlightAware, over 3,000 flights within, into and out of the country have been cancelled for Tuesday, with just over 2,600 of these being Southwest Airlines flights. Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Chicago Midway International, Baltimore/Washington International, Nashville International and Dallas Love Field were the airports most affected. Additionally, there were almost 5,200 delays. The airline's CEO Bob Jordan said Southwest plans to operate just over a third of its schedule in upcoming days to give itself the ability for crews to get into the right positions. The US Department of Transportation has also released a statement saying it is “concerned” and will examine whether cancellations were controllable and if Southwest is complying with its customer service plan. Greyhound, the largest provider of intercity bus service, issued a service alert on Tuesday morning stating many of its scheduled services in the upper northeast continued to be disrupted due to winter weather. Buffalo International Airport announced it does not plan to resume passenger flights before 11 a.m. ET Wednesday. Customers affected by these disruptions are encouraged to reach out to their respective carriers for more information.
