Ukraine withdraws troops from Avdiivka due to difficult situation

The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia in the eastern city of Avdiivka has intensified, with Ukrainian forces withdrawing from the southeastern part of the city in the face of heavy Russian attacks. Commander Oleksandr Tarnavskyi stated that the decision was made to save soldiers' lives in the difficult battlefield situation, as the enemy continued to launch massive bomb attacks day and night.

Despite the withdrawal, Ukrainian forces claimed that the move did not provide any strategic advantage to Russia. Tarnavskyi described the Avdiivka sector as the hottest on the front line, with continuous attacks from multiple directions. He also mentioned that heavy fighting was ongoing, with Ukrainian forces repelling more than 30 Russian attacks in a single day.

The situation in Avdiivka has been described as dire, with videos showing soldiers taking cover from heavy shelling in damaged buildings. The city is seen as a key target for Russia in its efforts to capture the entire eastern Donbas region. Capturing Avdiivka would provide Moscow with a significant battlefield victory, which could be used by Russian President Vladimir Putin as he seeks re-election.

Despite the intense fighting and heavy losses on both sides, Ukrainian forces have been reinforcing their positions and trying to minimize casualties. Tarnavskyi mentioned that measures were being taken to expand logistics routes and deliver increased volumes of munitions to the troops.

As the conflict continues to escalate, the international community is closely monitoring the situation in Avdiivka and the wider region. The impact of the ongoing conflict on the civilian population and the broader implications for the conflict between Ukraine and Russia remain uncertain.
