Trump and Kennedy Jr. to appear in election town halls on X

Former President Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are set to participate in live video town halls broadcast by X, the social media company owned by Elon Musk. The interviews will be conducted separately and in partnership with cable channel NewsNation. The series, titled “The People’s Town Hall,” will reportedly include questions submitted by X users through the social media platform.

The dates and locations for the interviews have not been confirmed yet, and NewsNation has not provided any comments on the matter. President Joe Biden will not be participating in these events, as per sources familiar with the plans.

X, formerly known as Twitter, has been expanding its video outreach under the leadership of Linda Yaccarino, who was appointed as the CEO by Elon Musk in May. Musk, who purchased Twitter in 2022 and rebranded it as X, has also attempted to bring Trump back to the platform after he was banned following the Capitol riot in 2021. Trump had already launched his competing platform, Truth Social, by the time his ban was reversed.

Kennedy Jr., who is running as an independent candidate, was not invited to participate in a presidential debate hosted by CNN and has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, alleging discrimination and illegality in the snub.

The Biden campaign has criticized Trump’s relationship with Musk, accusing him of selling himself out to billionaires to finance his legal bills and campaign costs. Musk is reportedly being considered for an advisory role if Trump is elected in the upcoming election.
