Small metallic object spotted in Canada

.

Over the past few days, a series of unidentified flying objects have been shot down in US and Canadian airspace, sparking speculation and concern over the objects’ purpose and origin. The Pentagon released a memo on Monday which provides the first official details of one of the objects. The object, which crossed near “US sensitive sites” before it was shot down, was identified as a “small, metallic balloon with a tethered payload below it.” The memo also noted that the object shot down over Alaska was the “size of a small car” and not similar to the Chinese balloon shot off the coast of South Carolina.

The memo also said that “recovery/exploitation” efforts were underway to retrieve the object shot down in Canada’s Yukon territory, with both US and Canadian officials attempting to identify debris. Canadian officials are leading the investigation, with the FBI embedded with them. The US Coast Guard has also been deployed to search the site in Lake Huron where the third object was shot down, with no additional information available about the description of the object.

The White House has denied that President Joe Biden’s recent swift actions to take down the objects was the result of political pressure, and have stated that “these were decisions based purely and simply on what was in the best interest of the American people.” Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are pressing to gain a better understanding of why the Biden administration shot down three unidentified objects in three days.
