Revelation of Robert Card's note and final movements in Maine shooting

In a tragic incident in Lewiston, Maine, a mass shooting took place on Wednesday, leaving 18 people dead and 13 injured. The shooter, identified as Robert Card, indiscriminately opened fire with a semiautomatic assault rifle inside a bowling alley and bar. Card later left a note to a loved one, which included his phone's passcode and bank account information before he was found dead about a mile away from his abandoned car.

According to Maine Public Safety Commissioner Mike Sauschuck, the note left behind by Card was not an explicit suicide note, but it conveyed a tone suggesting that he would not be around. Two nights after the shooting, law enforcement discovered Card's body with a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside one of the unlocked trailers in a recycling center's overflow parking lot. Two guns were also found with him, and it was disclosed that Card had legally purchased these weapons recently.

The location where Card was found was separate from the main recycling facility and was not thoroughly searched by the police initially. The diligent owner of the facility provided a tip about the trailers, prompting law enforcement to conduct a third visit to the lot, ultimately leading to the discovery of Card's body. The investigation into the exact time of Card's death is ongoing.

Throughout the press briefings held by law enforcement, the victims of the shooting were honored and remembered. Thirteen individuals remain in critical condition out of the injured. The names of the deceased victims, ranging from 14 to 76 years old, were released on Friday. Counseling services have been made available for the physical and emotional well-being of the victims, as well as anyone impacted by the incident.

Commissioner Sauschuck emphasized the importance of supporting the victims, which includes Card's family. The family members were cooperative with law enforcement and were the first to identify Card. While Fox News Digital attempted to contact the family for comments, they declined to provide any statements.

As the investigation continues and the community mourns the loss of the victims, it is essential to focus on the well-being and support of those affected by this tragic event.
