Bodycam footage from Trump assassination attempt released

Police bodycam footage obtained by Fox News Digital reveals the moments leading up to an attempted assassination of former President Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The footage shows officers attempting to intercept Thomas Matthew Crooks on a roof seconds before he opened fire, which resulted in the death of Corey Comparatore and injuries to two others.

The video shows officers making a desperate attempt to stop Crooks, with one officer being hoisted onto the roof where Crooks was stationed. Crooks pointed his weapon at the officer before falling from the roof and ultimately being shot by countersnipers.

The security breaches that allowed the shooting to occur have raised questions about the response from various law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe acknowledged a "failure" in security measures, as video footage showed someone moving along a roof minutes before the shooting.

Crooks, who had ties to Iran, drove to the rally site hours before the shooting and flew a drone near the location where Trump was speaking. Local law enforcement officers spotted Crooks before the shooting occurred, but were unable to prevent the attack.

Despite the tragic events, Butler County Sheriff Michael Slupe praised the officers who interrupted Crooks, stating that their actions likely saved the former President's life. The interruption provided Trump with the seconds he needed to avoid a potentially fatal shot.
