100 migrants rush guards, break barriers at El Paso border

In a recent incident in El Paso, Texas, a large group of over 100 migrants attempted to enter the US illegally by rushing a border wall, breaking through razor wire and knocking over guards in the process. The situation grew tense as Texas National Guard troops attempted to push back the approximately 600 migrants massed at the international border. Video footage shows the migrants crying out for help and rushing to the border gate, where a group of men in hoodies, gloves, and winter jackets pulled away the fencing as guards stood in a defensive formation to fill the gap.

The migrants eventually broke through the fence with razor wire, knocking down National Guard soldiers and running past them. Some migrants can be seen putting their hands up in surrender, but others continued to scramble through, knocking guards out of the way. The Texas National Guard quickly scrambled to secure the area as the migrants ran to another gate and begged for help.

Texas has deployed its National Guard troops to the border with Mexico as part of Governor Greg Abbott's Operation Lone Star. The state also recently attempted to implement SB4, a new law that allows state and local authorities to make arrests for illegal entry. However, an appeals court blocked the measure after the Supreme Court initially gave it the green light.
