Trump visits X for first time since posting mugshot on Musk's platform

Former President Trump made a return to the social media platform X on Monday, marking his first appearance since posting a mugshot to Elon Musk's platform in August 2023. During his return, Trump shared two campaign ads, one of which was a 2-minute and 30-second video narrating key moments from his presidency and addressing the indictments lodged against him. In the ad, Trump vows to "obliterate the deep state" if re-elected and emphasizes the importance of defending freedom and faith.

Following the video ad, Trump posted a written message asking if Americans are better off now than they were during his presidency and calling for a return to the "American Dream." He also shared a graphic advertising an upcoming livestream with Musk later that evening. Additionally, a 34-second ad was posted, in which Trump declares a "final battle" to rid the government of perceived threats and villains.

Trump's return to X comes after a lengthy hiatus from the platform, following his permanent suspension from Twitter in January 2021. Musk reinstated Trump's account on X in November 2022, shortly after the former president announced his 2024 presidential bid. Trump has since primarily used his own platform, TRUTH Social, for his campaign efforts.

The former president's return to social media has garnered attention and controversy, particularly with his close association with Elon Musk and his vocal criticisms of the current administration. Trump's presence on X has reignited discussions about free speech, social media censorship, and the role of technology in politics. As the 2024 presidential election approaches, Trump's reemergence on social media platforms like X is likely to continue to generate interest and debate among voters and political observers.
