Tinder introduces new $499 monthly membership named Tinder Select

Tinder, the popular dating app, has introduced an "exclusive membership" called Tinder Select, which comes with a hefty monthly price tag of $499. This membership is only available to a select few, with Tinder stating that it is offering it to less than 1% of users to ensure an exclusive experience. The new membership was first made available via invitation in September.

Match Group, the parent company of Tinder, had previously mentioned its plans to launch a high-end membership experience, stating that the initial pricing for Tinder Select would be substantially higher than the app's current offerings. Match Group also operates other dating apps such as Hinge, the League, and Plenty of Fish.

To gain access to Tinder Select, users must have their accounts reviewed and approved by Tinder. The app encourages users to meet certain requirements, such as being photo verified, having at least four photos, and expressing a relationship goal.

The benefits of Tinder Select include early access to new features, priority for liked profiles, the ability to message others without matching twice a week, and an ad-free experience. Select users can also add a special badge to their profile to indicate their membership status.

During Match Group's third-quarter financial results discussion, CEO Bernard Kim mentioned that the number of invites for Tinder Select is still at a very low level. However, he expressed optimism about the product's financial potential and stated that they believe it can generate tens of millions of dollars in revenue next year.

It is worth noting that Tinder already offers three existing paid subscriptions with varying features and prices: Tinder+, Tinder Gold, and Tinder Platinum. The introduction of Tinder Select adds another level of exclusivity for those willing to pay the high monthly fee.
