The nominees for the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame have been announced, featuring a diverse lineup of artists from various genres, including pop, hip-hop, rock, and folk. Notable nominees include Taylor Swift, Kenny Loggins, LL Cool J, Pink, Sarah McLachlan, and David Byrne of Talking Heads.
Additional nominees in the performer-songwriter category encompass members of iconic bands such as The Go-Go’s (Charlotte Caffey, Kathy Valentine, and Jane M. Wiedlin), The Guess Who (Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings), America (Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell), and Kiss (Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley). This announcement follows the recent passing of Ace Frehley, the original lead guitarist of Kiss, who died on October 16.
Other performers on the ballot include Richard Carpenter of The Carpenters, Harry Wayne Casey of KC and the Sunshine Band, and Boz Scaggs. The Hall of Fame also recognizes non-performers, with this year’s nominees including disco songwriter Pete Bellotte, Swedish pop producer Andreas Carlsson, and Steve Kipner. Collaborators of Madonna and Tina Turner, Patrick Leonard and the duo Terry Britten and Graham Lyle, are also included.
Eligible voters have until December 4 to submit their ballots, selecting up to three nominees from each category. Returning nominees include Walter Afanasieff and Bob McDill, recognized for their contributions to music over the years. Established in 1969, the Songwriters Hall of Fame honors individuals whose work has significantly impacted popular music, with inductees announced early in 2026.
