Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, 81, is reportedly recovering well after sustaining injuries in a car accident in New Hampshire on Saturday night. The incident occurred when a Honda RV, driven by a 19-year-old woman, rear-ended the Ford Bronco in which Giuliani was a passenger. Local police reported that the collision caused significant damage to both vehicles and occurred just before 10 p.m.
Both Giuliani and his spokesperson, Ted Goodman, were transported to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Giuliani's head of security, Michael Ragusa, stated that Giuliani suffered a fractured thoracic vertebra, along with multiple lacerations and contusions. He was conscious and alert following the accident, with medical staff expressing satisfaction with his recovery progress.
Prior to the accident, Ragusa noted that Giuliani had been providing assistance to a woman involved in a domestic violence incident. He emphasized that the crash was not a targeted attack and requested that the public refrain from spreading conspiracy theories regarding the incident. Giuliani's social media account shared information about his recovery and thanked his medical team.
The accident remains under investigation by state police, and no charges have been filed at this time. Giuliani's son, Andrew, expressed gratitude for the support received since the news of the accident, highlighting the impact of community outreach.
Giuliani, who rose to prominence for his leadership during the September 11 attacks and later served as a personal attorney to President Donald Trump, was disbarred in New York due to his involvement in efforts to contest the 2020 election results. His recent legal challenges include a significant defamation judgment that he settled earlier this year.
