Police arrest man after Molotov cocktail attack at OpenAI CEO's home

A 20-year-old male has been arrested following an incident involving the alleged use of a Molotov cocktail at the residence of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in San Francisco. According to a spokesperson for OpenAI, the event occurred early in the morning, resulting in a minor fire at the exterior gate of Altman's home. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) responded to the incident shortly after it occurred, at approximately 4:12 a.m. During their investigation, officers received a description of the suspect, who had fled the scene. Less than an hour later, officers were dispatched to a nearby business where the same individual was reportedly making threats to burn down the establishment. When they arrived, they recognized the suspect and detained him.

OpenAI expressed gratitude for the swift response from law enforcement, emphasizing their commitment to employee safety. The spokesperson stated that the company is cooperating with the police as the investigation continues. While charges against the suspect are still pending, the SFPD confirmed that they developed probable cause to make the arrest.

This incident raises concerns regarding safety and security in the area, particularly for high-profile individuals and organizations. As the investigation unfolds, authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the motive behind the attack or any potential connections to Altman or OpenAI.
