Oscars shortlist includes "Top Gun" and "Black Panther"

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced their shortlist for the 95th Oscars, with 15 films in the international film category. These films, which feature directors from across the globe, include "Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths" by Alejandro González Iñárritu, "Joyland" from Pakistan, and "Last Film Show" from India, which marks the first time a film from the country has been included in 20 years. Other potential nominations include popular films such as "Avatar: The Way of Water," "Top Gun: Maverick," and "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," as well as 8 films directed by women and 4 films directed by people of color.

The shortlist also includes original songs from some of the biggest names in pop music, including Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, The Weeknd, LCD Soundsystem, Selena Gomez, Drake, and Rita Wilson.

Nominations for all categories will be announced on Jan. 24, with the 95th Oscars being held on Sunday, March 12 and broadcast live on ABC. This is an exciting time for film fans, as all of the nominees will be vying for a chance to take home one of the most prestigious awards in the industry.
