Nike names Caitlin Clark as its latest signature athlete

Nike Basketball has officially named WNBA player Caitlin Clark as its newest signature athlete, as announced on Monday. At 23 years old, Clark has made a significant impact in the basketball world, notably during her collegiate career at Iowa, where she became the all-time leading scorer in NCAA history with 3,667 points.

Following her standout college career, Clark was selected first overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft. In her rookie season, she set multiple WNBA rookie records, including points (769), assists (337), and three-pointers made (122). Furthermore, she made history as the first rookie to achieve a triple-double in the WNBA.

In her announcement, Clark expressed pride in joining Nike’s roster, which includes some of the sport's most celebrated athletes. She revealed her personalized logo, which consists of interlocking C's, symbolizing her connection with fans and her dedication to basketball. The logo is described as incorporating a hidden C, representing the foundational aspects of her game, including her passion and drive.

Clark is set to launch a collection featuring her logo on various apparel, with her first signature shoe expected to debut in 2026. She remarked on the significance of the logo as a representation of her journey in the sport.

Currently, Clark is facing challenges in her second season due to a groin injury, limiting her to just 13 games thus far. The Fever hold a record of 19-18 this season and are looking to secure a playoff spot with hopes of Clark’s return to the court.
