The Memphis Grizzlies announced on Wednesday that guard Ja Morant will remain away from the team for at least four more games. The team did not provide any further comment on the situation.
This news follows an investigation by the Glendale Police Department into a livestreamed video in which Morant appeared to be displaying a gun in a strip club. The investigation concluded that no crime was committed, and no firearm was ever located.
The NBA is also looking into the matter, and has yet to announce any sanctions against Morant. The two-time All-Star streamed the video in the early hours of Saturday after the Grizzlies played in Denver on Friday night.
Morant later said he was taking time away βto get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.β It is not yet known what steps he is taking or why he is seeking help.
As a result of Morant's absence, he will miss Thursday's game against the Golden State Warriors, Saturday's game against the Dallas Mavericks, Monday's game against the Mavericks and March 15's game against the Miami Heat. He could potentially return to the court as early as March 17 in a game against the San Antonio Spurs, though it is not guaranteed.
