Jonathan Majors dropped by Marvel and Disney following assault conviction

Jonathan Majors, an emerging Hollywood star, has been convicted of assaulting his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. A Manhattan jury found Majors guilty of one misdemeanor assault charge and one harassment violation related to a confrontation that occurred in March. Jabbari accused Majors of attacking her in a car, causing her significant pain. However, Majors' lawyers claimed that Jabbari was the aggressor in the situation.

Following the verdict, Marvel Studios and the Walt Disney Co. swiftly dropped Majors from all upcoming projects. Prior to his conviction, Majors had been on track to become a central figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing the antagonist role of Kang. He had already appeared in "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" and the first two seasons of "Loki." His role in "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty" was set for release in May 2026.

Majors, known for his roles in films such as "The Last Black Man in San Francisco" and "Da 5 Bloods," had been one of the fastest-rising stars in Hollywood. However, his career prospects have taken a significant hit due to the conviction. The sentencing for Majors is scheduled for February 6, with a maximum jail penalty of up to one year for the assault conviction.

During the trial, new evidence emerged about Majors' troubled relationship with Jabbari. Prosecutors presented text messages in which Majors discouraged Jabbari from seeking medical treatment for a head injury, warning her that it could lead to an investigation. Audio recordings were also played, revealing Majors' questioning Jabbari's ability to meet the standards set by the spouses of Martin Luther King Jr. and Barack Obama.

Jabbari testified that Majors was excessively controlling and prone to fits of rage, leaving her in fear. Security footage was shown to the jury, capturing the moment Majors pushed Jabbari back into the car. Majors' defense argued that Jabbari had recorded him without his knowledge as part of a plot to harm his career.

While both sides presented their arguments, the prosecutor emphasized the seriousness of domestic violence, accusing Majors of attempting to portray himself as the victim. The defense claimed that Jabbari sought revenge on Majors due to his infidelity.

Majors' career and personal life have undoubtedly been impacted by this trial and conviction. As the sentencing approaches, the consequences for Majors remain uncertain.
