Gene Simmons, the co-founder and bassist of the iconic rock band Kiss, is recovering after fainting while driving along California's Pacific Coast Highway. The incident occurred when Simmons lost consciousness and his SUV veered across multiple lanes, ultimately colliding with a parked vehicle. Following the crash, the 76-year-old musician was evaluated at a local hospital and subsequently released.
Authorities from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that Simmons was transported to the hospital for further assessment after the accident. He later took to social media to reassure fans, stating, "Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens."
Simmons and his band have a long history in the music industry, having recently concluded a half-century of touring in 2023. Despite their retirement from touring, the band is scheduled to perform at a special event in Las Vegas this November. Additionally, Kiss is set to be honored as part of this year’s Kennedy Center honorees, an announcement made by President Donald Trump in August.
As Simmons recovers, the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of health and safety, particularly for individuals in high-profile positions. Further updates on his condition and upcoming performances are anticipated as he continues his recovery.
