Fox and Dominion go to court

On Tuesday, Fox News and Dominion Voting Systems faced off in a Delaware courtroom over the network’s coverage of the 2020 presidential election. Dominion is suing Fox for defamation, claiming the network recklessly repeated false accusations from supporters of former President Donald Trump about its machines and software being responsible for his defeat. Fox maintained that it was simply reporting on newsworthy allegations. During the summary judgment hearing, both sides argued their cases and Judge Eric Davis indicated he had not yet made up his mind. Also, a Fox News producer filed a suit against the network alleging she was pressured to give misleading testimony during her deposition in the Dominion case. Fox countered with its own lawsuit against the producer. The hearing will continue Wednesday, and it is unclear when the judge will issue a ruling. This case has the potential to redefine libel law in the U.S. and is being closely watched by both sides.
