Former publicist sues Justin Baldoni for alleged harassment of Blake Lively

The entertainment industry is currently embroiled in a controversy involving accusations of sexual harassment and defamation. Blake Lively, co-star of Justin Baldoni in the film "It Ends With Us," has accused Baldoni of sexual harassment on set and orchestrating a social media campaign to tarnish her reputation. In response, Baldoni's former publicist, Stephanie Jones, has filed a lawsuit against him, alleging defamation and breach of contract.

The lawsuit, filed in New York state court, claims that Baldoni breached his contract with Jonesworks when he dropped the firm after his current publicist, Jennifer Abel, left to start her own company. Jones also alleges that Abel and PR crisis manager Melissa Nathan carried out an online smear campaign against Lively without her knowledge.

Text messages submitted as evidence in Lively's complaint reveal discussions between Abel, Nathan, and Baldoni about spreading negative stories about Lively in the press and on social media. Baldoni's talent agency, WME, dropped him following Lively's complaint, but his lawyers have denied the allegations.

The controversy surrounding "It Ends With Us" extends beyond the harassment allegations, with criticism directed at the film's promotion, which some found to be light-hearted given the serious themes of domestic violence. Despite the fallout, Hollywood stars like Amber Heard and the cast of "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" have voiced support for Lively, commending her for speaking out and demanding a safe workplace.

As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the legal battle and public opinion will shape the future of those involved in this high-profile case. The entertainment industry is once again grappling with issues of harassment, power dynamics, and the importance of supporting those who come forward with allegations.
