Britney Spears enters rehab following DUI arrest and recent video post

Pop singer Britney Spears voluntarily entered a rehabilitation treatment facility on April 12, 2023, as confirmed by her representative. This decision came shortly after she shared a video on Instagram, which featured her in a thong performing a playful slap on her own backside. The timing is notable, as it follows her March 4 arrest in Ventura County, California, for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). She was released the following day, and her representative described the incident as “unfortunate” and “completely inexcusable.”

Spears, 44, has a court date scheduled for May 4. Following her DUI arrest, her representative indicated that the singer is committed to making positive changes in her life and is seeking the necessary help and support. The statement also mentioned that her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, will be spending time with her, as her family plans to create a strategy for her well-being.

Previously, Spears faced legal issues including a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge in 2007, which was dismissed. In 2008, she was hospitalized for a psychiatric evaluation and subsequently placed under a conservatorship that lasted 13 years, overseen by her father, until its termination in November 2021. This change followed significant public advocacy for her rights, notably through the “Free Britney” movement.

Since the end of her conservatorship, Spears has remained active on social media, where she has sparked concern among fans due to some of her posts, including videos that depict her dancing in revealing outfits and, at times, holding knives. Recently, she has also expressed criticisms of her family online.
