2025 SAG Awards crowns Hollywood's best

The 31st Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards took place on Sunday at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, gathering prominent figures from the film and television industry. This year’s ceremony was significant as it marked a return to normalcy for the city, which is still recovering from recent wildfires.

The event, streamed live on Netflix, was hosted by Kristen Bell, who previously held the role in 2018. Although she initially considered stepping back due to the wildfires, she ultimately recognized the importance of the awards for the local economy, emphasizing that canceling the event could negatively impact numerous jobs within the entertainment sector.

The evening featured a blend of humor and heartfelt tributes, including a nod to first responders in attendance. A lighthearted moment unfolded when actor Harrison Ford, during a presentation, turned to the camera while eating, prompting laughter from fellow presenter Jessica Williams.

Numerous awards were distributed, with notable wins including Timothée Chalamet for his portrayal of Bob Dylan, marking his first SAG Award and positioning him as a contender for the upcoming Academy Awards. Kieran Culkin won for his performance in "A Real Pain," while Jessica Gunning and Colin Farrell received accolades for their roles in limited series. The ensemble performances in "Shogun" and "Only Murders in the Building" also garnered recognition.

The event showcased a montage of celebrated films and culminated in an engaging atmosphere, reflecting the resilience and camaraderie of the Hollywood community. The SAG Awards continue to serve as a platform for actors to honor their peers and celebrate the craft of performance, reinforcing its significance within the industry.
