2025 Grammys will showcase support for LA fires

The 2025 Grammy Awards are fast approaching, scheduled to take place on Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The Recording Academy has announced that this year's show will focus on supporting relief efforts following the devastating Los Angeles-area wildfires. The main show will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+ at 8 p.m. Eastern, with Paramount+ subscribers able to stream the awards the day after the ceremony.

Leading the Grammy nominations this year is Beyoncé with a total of 11 nods, making her the most nominated artist in Grammy history. Following closely behind are Post Malone, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and Charli XCX with seven nominations each. Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan have received six nominations apiece.

In light of the wildfires, the Recording Academy and MusiCares have launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort, with a $1 million donation from Universal Music Group. Other major record labels like BMG and Warner Music Group have canceled their Grammy-related events and redirected funds to support wildfire relief efforts.

MusiCares, an organization that provides assistance to music professionals in need, will hold its annual Persons of the Year benefit gala on Jan. 31, honoring the Grateful Dead and making a special appeal for donations to support wildfire relief efforts.

The Grammys will not only celebrate the artistry and achievements of the music community but also serve as a platform to amplify the spirit of resilience in Los Angeles. In challenging times, music has the power to heal, comfort, and unite, and the Grammys aim to honor the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect others.
