2022's Biggest Movie and TV Disappointments

This past year has seen a lot of high-profile movies and TV shows that had a lot of hype surrounding them, but ultimately failed to live up to expectations. From David O. Russell's period piece "Amsterdam" to Jared Leto's Marvel antihero movie "Morbius" and Ryan Gosling's "The Gray Man", to Dwayne Johnson's DC antihero movie "Black Adam", there have been a number of cinematic disappointments. Disney's "Pinocchio" reteaming of director Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks also failed to meet expectations, as did Amazon Prime Video's "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" prequel and Disney+'s "Moon Knight" starring Oscar Isaac. Showtime's "The First Lady" starring Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Gillian Anderson, HBO's adaptation of "The Time Traveler's Wife" and Netflix's fifth season of "The Crown" also didn't deliver. Even Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale" had a fifth season, but it didn't quite measure up to the show's earlier seasons. All in all, it's been a year of disappointments. Hopefully things will look up in the new year, with more exciting projects and more successful releases.
