NY Hospitals Remove Face Mask Mandate

On February 12, the state of New York allowed the face mask mandate that had been in place for health care facilities to expire. The decision was made with only three days' notice to the public and without any input from community members, patients, and the people most impacted, causing some to express concerns. In response, each healthcare facility is now able to decide for itself whether or not to continue requiring face masks. As of now, some clinics are still requiring masks while others are not.

It is important for people to be aware of their healthcare facility's policy on masks, as well as the risks of not wearing one. While masks are not a guarantee of protection against COVID-19, they can help reduce the risk of transmission, particularly when combined with other measures such as social distancing and frequent hand-washing. As the pandemic has continued to spread, the importance of masks has become increasingly clear.

In light of the new ruling, healthcare providers in New York are encouraged to make sure their patients are aware of their policies on face masks and the risks of not wearing one. It is also important for the public to stay informed and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their loved ones.
