Trump announces AI infrastructure investment with Oracle, OpenAI and Softbank

President Donald Trump is set to announce a new joint venture with OpenAI, Oracle, and Softbank to invest billions of dollars in AI infrastructure in the United States. The project, named Stargate, will be revealed at the White House with the participation of Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son and executives from Oracle and OpenAI.

The companies are expected to commit between $100 billion and $500 billion to the project over the next four years. The first joint venture of Stargate will be a data center in Texas.

Softbank's Son had previously announced a $100 billion AI investment in the United States in December during a visit to then-President-elect Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort. It is unclear if the upcoming investment announcement will be in addition to Son's previous pledge.

The collaboration between these major companies and the U.S. government signifies a significant investment in AI infrastructure, which could have far-reaching implications for the technology sector and the economy as a whole. The impact of this partnership on job creation, innovation, and economic growth remains to be seen.
