Ram unveils electric pickup truck competitors

On Thursday, Ram revealed the concept of its upcoming electric pickup truck, the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The company plans to enter the electric pickup truck market in 2022. The exterior design of the concept is labelled “brutiful” and the interior boasts a 28-inch touchscreen, a glass roof and potential features such as a “Shadow Mode”, AI personal assistant and retractable steering wheel for self-driving capabilities.

Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. said that the concept is a roadmap for the brand's future products, but that no official range or performance specifications have been released yet. He also noted that electric pickup adoption has been slower than expected, and that the company has no plans to discontinue production of its gas- or diesel-powered pickups.

When the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV hits the market, it will face competition from Detroit rivals Rivian, as well as Tesla and other electric pickups like the GMC Hummer EV, Ford F-150 Lightning, Lordstown Endurance and Rivian R1T. It remains to be seen how the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV will fare against these competitors.
