OpenAI Revenue Chief Departs Amid Leadership Changes
OpenAI is preparing for another senior leadership change as chief revenue officer Denise Dresser plans to leave the company in the coming weeks. Her announcement follows the departure of Brad Lightcap, the former chief operating officer who most recently led special projects, adding to a broader series of executive transitions.
Dresser joined OpenAI in December after serving as chief executive of workplace messaging company Slack. In a note shared with employees and posted on LinkedIn, she said she would pursue other opportunities. OpenAI said Dali Rajic, currently president and chief operating officer of cybersecurity company Wiz, will soon replace her.
The leadership shift comes two days after Lightcap announced his exit. Dresser had assumed some of his responsibilities when he moved into the special projects position. Other recent exits include former AGI chief Fidji Simo and chief marketing officer Kate Rouch, who previously stepped down from their respective company roles.
OpenAI described the change as part of a stage in its development. The company said upcoming generations of artificial intelligence models could alter how businesses operate and are structured. It said Rajic will be responsible for building the revenue systems needed to support expansion during this next phase of growth.
The timing also places Dresser’s exit ahead of a potential initial public offering. OpenAI announced in June that it had confidentially submitted an S-1 registration filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, an early procedural step companies commonly take while considering or preparing to sell shares to public investors.
Taken together, the departures mark a period of management turnover at OpenAI as it expands its commercial operations and prepares for possible changes in ownership. The company has presented Rajic’s appointment as a continuity measure focused on revenue growth, while Dresser has not provided further details about her next role.
