Meta's AI assistant now available on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has announced the launch of its new artificial intelligence assistant, Meta AI, across its social media platforms WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. The assistant is designed to answer questions, create animations, and generate images for users. It was built on Meta's latest large language model, Meta Llama 3, which was also introduced on the same day.

In a unique move, Meta has partnered with Google and Microsoft to provide search engine results from both companies through Meta AI. CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that Meta AI is now the most intelligent AI assistant that users can freely access. The company's shares rose more than 2% following the announcement.

Users can access Meta AI through the search boxes of the social media apps, as well as on the website "meta.ai." The assistant can assist with a variety of tasks, such as providing recommendations, helping with vacation planning, and offering inspiration for decorating. Users can also ask Meta AI for help with tasks like solving math problems or writing professional emails.

Additionally, Meta AI includes an image-generation feature that allows users to create and refine images, as well as animate them into GIFs. The assistant is currently available in English in over a dozen countries, including the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.

Meta first introduced Meta AI in beta at its Connect event in September and has now rolled out the assistant to a wider audience. The company aims to provide a comprehensive AI tool that can enhance user experiences across its various platforms.
