House orders removal of TikTok

The Office of Cybersecurity has deemed TikTok a high risk to users due to a number of security risks. Exceptions are made for law enforcement activities, national security interests and activities, and security researchers, but agencies must document risk mitigation actions for any of those uses. The No TikTok on Government Devices Act was advocated for by Senator Josh Hawley, R-Mo., alongside Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Rick Scott, R-Fla., and Tom Cotton, R-Ark. The House Chief Administrative Office Catherine L. Szpindor sent an email to House members regarding the ban. The House is now moving to align its policy with the requirements for the executive branch that were included in the legislation.
