Costco has issued a second recall in less than a month for its Kirkland Signature Severe Cold & Flu Plus Congestion medicine due to potential foreign material contamination. The affected item has a specific lot code, P140082, and was sold at select locations in the Midwest and southeast between Oct. 30 and Nov. 30, 2024. Customers who purchased this product are advised to return it to Costco for a full refund and to contact manufacturer LNK International Inc. with any concerns.
This recent recall comes after the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) recalled 8,640 boxes of Kirkland Severe Cold & Flu Plus Congestion Day and Night packs last month. The FDA cited the ingredient oral phenylephrine as ineffective as a nasal decongestant following a review. Dr. Marc Siegel, Fox News senior medical analyst, explained that oral phenylephrine can have negative side effects such as heart toxicity, palpitations, arrhythmia, and high blood pressure.
In addition to the cold and flu medicine recall, Costco has also issued recall notices for frozen waffles and freeze-dried meat over listeria concerns. Customers who purchased these products are advised to check for specific lot codes and return any affected items to Costco for a refund.
