Chipotle Mexican Grill is set to expand its presence significantly, with plans to open a new restaurant nearly every day in 2025, according to CEO Scott Boatwright. Speaking at the company’s COO summit, Boatwright highlighted the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in facilitating this rapid growth. The introduction of the AI-powered hiring tool, Ava Cado, has reportedly reduced the hiring process time by approximately 75%. This system, developed in partnership with Paradox, assists in communicating with candidates, answering inquiries, scheduling interviews, and extending job offers.
Boatwright emphasized that the efficiency gained through AI not only helps maintain staffing levels but also aids in attracting top talent in the competitive fast-casual dining market. He noted the importance of having skilled, value-oriented employees to support Chipotle’s ongoing expansion strategy.
In addition to hiring improvements, Chipotle is leveraging AI to enhance customer engagement, offering personalized deals through its rewards program. The company operates nearly 3,800 locations globally, with a significant majority in the United States. For 2025, Chipotle aims to establish between 315 and 345 new restaurants, a move that aligns with its focus on incorporating drive-thru options known as Chipotlanes.
Financially, Chipotle reported nearly $2.9 billion in revenue for the first quarter, marking a 6.4% increase year-over-year, alongside a net income of $386.6 million. The company plans to release its second-quarter earnings in July, indicating continued growth in both revenue and expansion efforts.
